Scholarship programs

SFERE implements international scholarship programs on behalf of foreign public partners (ministries, agencies, foundations, etc.) and major companies from all sectors. Through these programs, we help promote the excellence of French higher education and have been contributing for 40 years to increasing the visibility of our universities and schools among foreign decision-makers and scholarship recipients.

We provide specialized expertise in the design of scholarship programs to ensure their success: optimizing planning according to academic calendars in the home country and in France, tailoring linguistic and scientific preparation strategies, and proposing selection criteria and methods for candidates.

We then offer comprehensive and personalized support covering all academic and administrative operations related to studying and living in France, along with additional services tailored to specific needs.

Since 1984, we have supported over 9,500 scholarship recipients from 31 non-French-speaking countries through to graduation, with some programs running for more than 20 years, demonstrating the trust of our partners (1,600 scholars in Mexico, 1,300 in Indonesia, 850 in Malaysia, 550 in Pakistan, etc.).

40 years of experience

In 40 years, SFERE has managed 260 international scholarship programs, benefiting more than 9,500 scholars from 31 countries across all continents, including:

  • 5,000 at the Master’s and Doctorate levels, primarily for university lecturers and scientific researchers.
  • 1,500 engineers across various specializations, funded by companies in the energy, telecommunications, agrifood industry, and transport sectors, as well as by technical ministries (industry, agriculture, forestry, transport, public works, tourism, health, etc.).
  • 3,000 at the Bachelor’s or Higher Technician level.

Funding organizations

Sfere serves foreign funding bodies seeking to leverage the potential of the French higher education network, both in its entirety and in its excellence, for the implementation of their international scholarship programs.

Our international scholarship programs are most often funded by governments and managed by ministries, universities, networks of research and technological development centers, and government agencies dedicated to human resource development.

They are also sometimes funded by major companies as part of their HR strategies, with the necessary financial resources to implement their skill development policies—such as companies in the Oil & Gas sector, telecommunications, etc.

Finally, they may be funded by foundations or international organizations.

Fields and Levels of Study

Sfere was born from an idea of the French Ministry of Education and Higher Education, with the aim of serving the entire public higher education network and proactively contributing to its international promotion in non-French-speaking countries.

We are able to place the scholarship recipients entrusted to us in all universities, all University Institutes of Technology, Engineering Schools, doctoral schools, and research laboratories hosting PhD students… In this way, we offer our foreign partners access to all fields and all levels of academic or professional studies and qualifications, with only a few rare exceptions.
